I got back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans this week. Check out my pics from Facebook.

I thought the place was going to be wall to wall boobs, like a high end strip club, except instead of dollar bills you trade beads. Unfortunately it was more like channel surfing cable tv after dark, you see something that kinda looks like a boob once every 10 minutes. I would have paid money to not see 90% of the flashes.

The food sucks in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Almost everything is either Cajun spiced or deep fried. I think the only thing I got to eat that wasn't extremely unhealthy was blackened red fish. The Beignets at Cafe Du Monde that everyone talks about are large flat zeppoles and their coffee, while good, is not better than Starbucks.

The local hand rolled cigars are very dry. I even bought them from the store that had the rollers on site.

I think the best thing I did in New Orleans was go to Coyote Ugly, they charge a little extra for the drinks, but it's worth it to see the barmaids dance on the bar. Found out there's one in NYC too.

Top 3 most interesting thing that happened during the trip

1. During a swamp tour, a decent looking chick from Amsterdam took an interest in me, but unfortunately she had a scab on the corner of her upper lip which I assumed was herpes. I spend the next 4 hours playing keep away, because herpes are like diamonds, forever!

2. I crossed the street in the middle of a parade holding hands with 4 girls (college freshmen?) daisy chained with me in the lead. I was also with my Thai friend and someone shouted "It's Harold and Kumar!". When I got across everyone was handing me beads, I felt like a hero.

3. My friend got punched in the head at the nightclub in Harrah's for dancing with some dudes girl.
